Raymond Crane (born February 25, 1925, died July 11, 2014, age 89. He was on the USS Maryland, moored next to the USS Oklahoma when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He served five years in the Pacific Theater and was in seven battles.
He and a friend pulled many shipmates out of the Maryland's sickbay after the ship was hit by a kamikaze later in the war.
He was a member pf the Pearl Harbor Survivor's Association, Chapter 2 of Indiana.

My Cooter's History Blog has become about 80% World War II anyway, so I figured to start a blog specific to it, especially since we're commemorating its 70th anniversary and we are quickly losing this "Greatest Generation." The quote is taken from Pearl Harbor survivor Frank Curre, who was on the USS Tennessee that day. He died Dec. 7, 2011, seventy years to the day. His photo is below at right.
