Another USS Oklahoma Sailor Comes Home: Leo Keninger-- Part 1

From the June 27, 2021, KCRG ABC News (Iowa) "World War II sailor killed in attack on Pearl Harbor laid to rest nearly 80 years later" by Becky Phelps.

U.S. Navy Fireman 1st Class Leo Keninger was 20 years old  when he was killed aboard the battleship USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941.  His remains were positively identified in 2019.  This past weekend, he was buried in his hometown of Ackley, Iowa.

The Elliot-Keninger American Legion Post in Ackley is named partly for him.  He was the first county casualty of World War II.
