My Cooter's History Blog has become about 80% World War II anyway, so I figured to start a blog specific to it, especially since we're commemorating its 70th anniversary and we are quickly losing this "Greatest Generation." The quote is taken from Pearl Harbor survivor Frank Curre, who was on the USS Tennessee that day. He died Dec. 7, 2011, seventy years to the day. His photo is below at right.

Of Motorists and Enemy Aliens
Jan. 2, 2017, Roanoke Times (Va) "Looking Back."
1942, 75 Years Ago.
*** "Motorists, having resigned themselves to the dictum that they will be unable to get new automobile tires for ordinary purposes, have swamped garages and repair shops to get their present tires retreaded and to buy scrapped ones."
*** "Today is the last day for enemy aliens to turn their short wave radios and cameras over to police authorities in Roanoke."
Wonder why?
